UT- Conviction- 1985

Great no-wave from a New York band fled to England. Female vocals reminiscent of early Patti Smith.

Possessed By Paul James- Cold and Blind- 2008

I’m not a big fan of most of the folk revival attempts that have gone on lately, so I was pretty suspicious when I came across this “roots blues” album from some Mennonite dude in Florida. That said this album won me over. Borrowing heavily from Skip James and the like, Konrad Wert has made a real blues stomper with solid lyrics, good hooks, and plenty of growling. A couple Devendra moments, but don’t let that hold you back, its a good listen.

Shits N’ Giggles- Trick Or Treat
Ariel Pink and Ven Deferens Organization (Mutant Sounds Blog dudes) project. Really weird, cosmic, collage psych. I was skeptical about this, but it’s a really entertaining listen and restored my faith that psychedelic music can still be weird. Really fucking weird.

Soft Machine – Self Titled (1968)

Disco Inferno – It’s a Kid’s World: http://www.mediafire.com/?3ulhocmi2yk
The title track is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard and Lost In Fog is about being too high.  The track in between mostly just works as transition.Little Willie John – Fever: http://www.mediafire.com/?3gzwiym5whj
One of my favorite vocalists, Willie John had soul and was an inspiration to James Brown and many others.

Van Duren – Are You Serious? Part 1: http://rapidshare.com/files/164062264/Van_Duren.part1.rar.html and Part 2: http://rapidshare.com/files/164065817/Van_Duren.part2.rar.html
70’s Memphis power pop.  He tried out for Big Star but didn’t make it, but then he made this solid album.  Songs about growing up and falling in love.

Garth Brooks- No Fences
http://rapidshare.com/files/36762086/CCS1206Garth_BrooksNF.rar
Another nostalgic album filled to rim with great songs. Every song is a hit on all three albums i posted this week. One of my favorite songs of all time is “Friends in Low Places.”

Chris Isaak- Forever Blue: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Q6ZAYC28

This was my favorite album growing up. Amazing song writing and extremely depressing.

Madonna- Something to Remember: http://www.mediafire.com/?tjam0ztm1b2
Call me gay… I can handle that, but this album is great. Maybe its just personal nostalgia, but this album and the Chris Isaak album were the only things i listened to from about the age of 5-12 and I think both albums effected my perception of music to this day. After that all i cared about was punk.
